Gotta Love Those Danes....MoToons Redux

Remember the Mohammed cartoons?

Recently, Danish police jailed three jihadis they caught plotting to murder one of the cartoonists..and in solidarity, a dozen Danish papers re-ran the cartoons.

There is still a fatwa-licious bounty on the heads of the cartoonists, by the way.

The Danes are apparently waiting for a reaction by the Islamic Faith Community, Demark's equivalent of the Muslim Council of Britain who's imams provoked the riots and violence over the cartoons by traveling overseas to the Middle East, adding a few fairly obscene cartoons of their own that were never even part of what was printed and whipping their co-religionists into a frenzy..

Group spokesman Kasem Ahmad said even though printing the cartoons "was like a knife in our hearts," the group would not take action this time.

"We have no plans to travel abroad or export this problem," he told reporters at a mosque in Copenhagen. "Now we have decided to neglect and ignore any possible provocation."

Wise choice. The Danes are a fairly tolerant and humane bunch, but even their patience isn't unlimited. And they apparently draw the line at people being murdered over some inocuous cartoons.

The papers said they wanted to show their firm commitment to freedom of speech after Tuesday's arrest in western Denmark of three people accused of plotting to kill Westergaard.

"We are doing this to document what is at stake in this case, and to unambiguously back and support the freedom of speech that we as a newspaper will always defend," said the Copenhagen-based Berlingske Tidende.

I agree..and in solidarity, here is JoshuaPundit's own re-run of the Mo' Toons, originally run in February, 2006:
