Short Takes: Worth Noting, 8/11/08

Short takes is my semi-daily way of cramming a lot into a small space for you..kind of like the young gentleman above is doing! Here's a rundown of some of today's items of interest for Joshua's Army:

*Iran unmoved on nuclear stance in face of sanctions - while the world is focused on the Olympics and the war in the Caucasus, the Mullahs contemptuously dismissed yet another deadline for replying to yet another western offer of incentives to cease its on its nuclear program. The West's response? More attempts at talks about talking.

*Georgia 'Cut In Half'- The Russians have seized the key Georgian town of Gori. I'll have more on this later.

*Don't blame Israel for Palestine's economic plight - not news really..just a response to an Israel-bashing editorial in the Yorkshire Evening Post that proves that commonsense and fair play is not totally extinct in Britain.

*Georgia and Russia — McCain and Obama- Michael Ledeen contrasts the response between the two candidates and uses it as an object example of who's ready to lead and who isn't.

*Activists Pursue the Felon Vote - the Democrats are making a well- major and well funded effort to register felons to vote...oh yes, and illegal aliens too.

* Will Colorado Ballot Measure on Race Hurt Obama? - Peter Brown from Quinnipac, the polling outfit looks at a statewide ballot proposition with massive public support aimed at banning the use of race in college admission, government hiring and contracting across the state and examines how it could effect what happens in Colorado in November. Since Barack Obama is the ultimate example of affirmative action in our time, it very well might.

*USA to open borders to those with AIDS... no, this isn't a joke headline. I only wish it were.

*Colombian Crossroads - One of my favorite people in Congress, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen asks us to examine what's at stake if we continue not to help Colombia, our best ally in Latin America.
